Today marks the third anniversary of Cathy's addictive blogging meme, In A Vase On Monday. In honor of the occasion, Cathy has challenged us to use three as a theme. Click here to see her arrangement and links to those of other participants. Congratulations on three years of hosting and thank you for the opportunity to join in!
In the basement was this object reminiscent of a loving cup. Add to that the crown of laurels pattern and it seemed an appropriate vessel for a celebratory arrangement.
I wanted to do something special for this occasion but couldn't find anything particularly marvelous in my garden so Istole borrowed an idea from blogging pal Nadezda of Nadezda's Northern Garden and made three roses from maple leaves. To see how Nadezda does it, click here. Her roses are much better than mine.
Added to the roses are dried Lunaria annua seed pods to add some shine and a few Cotoneaster branches with berries that are kind of lost behind everything else.
Joining the arrangement is a little maple leaf bowl with attached chickadee looking at three fruits of Physalis alkekengi (actually the papery covering of same.)
