In A Vase (?) on Monday and How to Pick Up a Guy at a Nursery.

I seldom cut flowers to bring inside so my In a Vase on Monday posts thus far have been dried and found things stuffed into vases. Today is a total cheat as the flowers are neither from my garden nor real.  When I went to the sale at Vassey Nursery, in addition to everything in the nursery being thirty percent off, there were lots of tchotchkes (gift ware)  and pots on sale at fifty percent off.   These cute ceramic eggshells came with silk grape hyacinths and a variety of other spring flowers.  (Someone forgot to take the red tags off of them.)  I pulled and found that with a bit of effort, the flowers could be removed and the vases could be used for live flowers but grape hyacinths are such cute flowers and these aren't heinous imitations so for now they'll stay.

Maybe I should get more to empty.

Come to think, of it, the shells aren't actual eggshells either.

In A Vase on Monday is hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.  Be sure to check her blog to see links to enjoy actual flowers from gardens brought inside to enjoy.

You may recall  seeing a green man in an earlier post about the sale.  In the comments of that post, Alison said she might purchase him. but she must  have decided against it as he was still there when I went back, birthday money burning a hole in my pocket.  Rats!  That added another choice.  In the end, I decided  to give this guy a ride home.

Don't know if this will be his final spot but he's here for now.

He looks good from a variety of angles in this spot.

His color is much more similar to the bark of the contorted filbert without the flash and he almost appears to be a part of the tree.
The garden assistant met met me at the nursery and purchased a couple of other things about which I'll post later along with the fun find from Watson's sale.  (All glazed pots 50% off,, perennials 40% off, and a big section of discounted gift stuff.) End of summer sales; bittersweet!
