Well, perhaps not a tropical heat wave but 55 sunny degrees in January seems quite balmy.
Although there are delightfully fragrant blooms outside, instead of bringing the outside in this week, I gathered some things from inside to make a vase.
This large shell is a recent thrift store find and seemed an appropriate container for a bit of warmth.
I was never a big fan of orchids. The flowers are nice but the foliage is just okay. However, last spring, I received one as a gift and the blooms lasted from May to November and the plant has now started to grow. This one followed me home from a house plant sale and seemed perfect for the shell.
It's joined by a couple of tillandsias that live on the kitchen windowsill.
A bit of the tropics in January is never a bad thing, right?
