Just across from the Goodwill vertical garden, that we visited in yesterday's post, sits Holy Rosary Catholic Church. If you go through Tacoma on the freeway, this is the steeple that stands out as it sits up on a hill. The morning was cloudy, damp, and cool but I was struck by the silhouettes of winter bare trees and the steeple stamped gloomily against the heavy sky.

As nights grow longer, we wait in the dark for the return of light, we deck our homes in anticipation, revel, burn artificial lights, and love our friends.
