In a Vase on Monday

Autumn is making itself known in warm colors, cold nights, bejeweled spider webs, and the ripening of all sorts of squash. Fields of magical orange orbs dot the countryside as stacks of pumpkins crowd entrances of grocery stores.   Summers were too short to grow pumpkins in my small town Alaska home and our one grocery store would get a few each year so this abundance still thrills me even though I've experienced it for more than thirty years now.

We visited a pumpkin patch to get a variety of squash/pumpkins for my kids to compare, carve, taste during the month while at home, I decided to use the glass pumpkin collection as part of today's vase, the contents of which are hydrangeas and grass blooms.

An  IAVOM arrangement from a month ago was still hanging around so it got thrown in as well.

Glass pumpkins seem to be a thing these days.  Mine have trickled in over the years from various discount sales.

The container itself is actually a metal candle holder with cut out tree silhouettes.  Later the flowers will be replaced with a lit candle and the branch designs will dance around the room as the flame flickers.

In A Vase on Monday is hosted each week by the amazing Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.  Click here to join in the fun!
I hope you're enjoying the beauty of autumn!
