You may remember Lavonne's garden from this post in October. Her garden was on a fall color tour and her friend Camille, whose garden was also on the tour, arranged for me to see the gardens the week before the tour. I was treated to a private tour of this garden by It's creator, LavonneStewart-Campbell.
Camille shared the news that her friend and fellow gardener, Lavonne passed away a few days ago. I only met Lavonne that one day but we kept in touch through occasional emails. It was obvious that this great lady was a fine gardener and fellow plant lover.
The garden was scheduled to be open for a Northwest Perennial Alliance tour later this month. Imagine Lavonne wandering this huge space gardening, preparing to once again share her Eden with lucky visitors. Her legacy of this peaceful and mature garden will live on and celebrate a gardener who made the world a more beautiful place.
Hail and Farewell to Lavonne, a stellar gardener and delightful person.
